Principal’s Report
Colour Explosion Fun Run
We have been amazed by the wonderful efforts of students, families and the wider community to support the fundraising efforts of our School Association as a part of our Colour Explosion Fun Run. Many thank you to Laura Clark, along with other School Association members and volunteers who have supported the activities today. There has been much hype in the lead up to today’s events. Thank you to the following organisations for their ongoing support of school events, particularly the Colour Explosion Fun Run:
- Lions Club of West Tamar for their involvement and support in coordinating the BBQ.
- Communities for Children who have supported the purchase of BBQ foods and ice-creams to support this event.
- West Tamar Council for your support in closing the road to ensure our student safety and for the the YAC’s presence.
- Beaconsfield Fire Brigade for their involvement and fire trucks onsite as part of the event.
Swimming Carnival
Our Swimming Carnival for students in Years 3-6 was held at George Town Pool on Wednesday. Weather conditions were great for swimming and the pool was lovely and warm. It was fantastic to see students participating and doing their best. There were some strong performances on the day with several students winning multiple 25m events, Maxton M, Sienna K, Blake S, Lochie M, Holly R, Tayla S, and Cohen LM – this was a great effort!
Well done to Flinders House for winning the overall points score for the Swimming Carnival. The results were close right through the formal races with Flinders maintaining their lead through the novelty events. Final score were Flinders 964 and Bass 708. Thank you to family and friends who came along to support students on the day. It was great to have some extra cheering.
Congratulations to students who will be selected to represent Beaconsfield Primary at the upcoming TPSSA Carnival on November 13 at the George Town Pool. A letter will go home with those students in the next week.
Garden Program with Neighbourhood House
This term we have established a partnership with Neighbourhood House volunteers, Ralph and Sharon who have been working hard to bring some life into our school vegetable garden. We are thrilled to be working alongside community people with small groups of students from our Year 1/2 classes. We look forward to seeing some produce later in the term.
ICAS Competitions
In Term 3, Beaconsfield Primary School students participated in the world-renowned ICAS competitions in the learning areas of English, Science and Mathematics. The ICAS competitions are designed to assess students’ higher order thinking and problem-solving skills. Congratulations to all students who participated in ICAS. Student certificates were handed out at recent assemblies.
