Principal’s Report
Progress Reports
Progress reports for students in Prep to Year 6 went home at the beginning of the week. These reports provide a snapshot to families about how students have commenced and settled in to Term 1. These reports do not contain a written comment. Please contact your child’s class teacher about any questions or concerns.
Towards the end of Term 2, there will be an opportunity for a face-to-face conversation with your child’s class teacher as a part of the mid-year reporting phase. At this meeting, samples of your child’s work will be available and provide an opportunity to view their progress against the Australian Curriculum.
School Association
The first School Association Meeting was on 13 March. Thank you to new and returning members who were successful in their nominations to be part of the committee. At the AGM, the following people were appointed into executive positions:
Laura Clark – Chairperson
Rebecca Reed – Secretary
Treasurer – Toni Sheppard
Other members of the committee are:
De’Arne Richardson, Elizabeth Caballero Pastor, Alanna Doust, Katrina Hillier, and Shaun Sexton.
The School Association have also endorsed the following priorities for 2024 as part of our School Improvement Plan:
Reading – Implementation of a whole school approach to the structured teaching of literacy and establish a MTSS for Reading.
Student Wellbeing – build connectedness to school and peers, development of emotional regulation, and resilience.
I look forward to a continued positive partnership with the School Association throughout the year.
NAPLAN
Students in Years 3 and 5 have completed NAPLAN assessments over the last week. Students have engaged well during this time. It is important to remember that whilst NAPLAN is important data for schools to collect, it is also one piece of information which helps to build an understanding of each child’s needs. NAPLAN reports will be expected in Term 3.
Fire Drill
Students and staff have participated in a fire drill this week. Regular drills ensure that everyone is prepared, aware and capable of taking appropriate actions during a fire emergency.
Students responded well to the drill and moved to the evacuation point calmly and safely. Fire brigade personnel attended the drill confirming appropriate procedures were followed.
Later in the year, we will also practice ‘lock-down’ procedures in line with DECYP requirements.
Athletics Results
Thank you to families who came along to support students at our recent Athletics Carnival. Students in K-2 enjoyed the tabloid sports activities, and 3-6 students enjoyed their track and field events. Well done to everyone for their participation. Thank you to Exeter High School students who so ably assisted and supported students and staff on the day.
Outstanding individual performances from students who won multiple events: Amelia, Parker, Maxton, Ciara, Eden, Abel, Millie, Ethan, Lochie, Arianna, Milly, Tayla and Cohen.
The overall House winner was Bass with a score of 1109, beating Flinders who finished with 1016.
Best wishes to all students selected to represent Beaconsfield Primary at the upcoming TPSSA at St Leonards on April 5.
Easter Break
Wishing everyone a lovely Easter break. The school will be closed on Good Friday (29 March) until Tuesday 2 April. We look forward to seeing students and families again on Wednesday 3 April.

School Photos
School Photos will be held on Tuesday 9 April for Kindergarten (Yellow, Green, Blue) to Year 6. A catch-up day will be held on Friday 12 April for Kindergarten (Red) and any absent students. Students are required to wear full school uniform.
Footwear for School
It is important that students are wearing footwear which is appropriate for school and suitable for the activities they are engaging in. It is recommended that students wear structured school shoes and/or running shoes daily. Students should wear their running shoes on days when they have PE or other sport-based activities.
Please see the images below for examples of appropriate footwear for school:
Lost Property
We have quite a bit of student lost property, including drink bottles and lunchboxes.
If your child has lost any items recently could you please check the lost property boxes.
