19 October Newsletter
Principal’s Report
Welcome back to school for Term 4 which is always busy and fast paced. The weather is starting to warm up which always makes everyone feel better and an opportunity to enjoy being outside. We have a busy term ahead, with Year 5/6 students heading to Camp Clayton this week, our Swimming Carnival for Year 3-6 students at the end of October, swimming occurring during PE lessons for P-6 students, and Kinder students out on an excursion next week. We look forward to a successful term of teaching and learning.
We have had some minor works occur during the holiday break. This has included repainting of the middle years classrooms in 1/2 Dawber, 2/3 Evans, 3/4 Cooper, as well as some staff offices and other student work spaces in this area. These rooms have also had new roller block out and sun blinds installed. We have had new blinds installed in the upstairs classrooms of 3/4 Turnbull, 5/6 Jamieson and 5/6 James and in the hall. The hall has also had the audio-visual equipment fitted which completes the work in this area.
The Kindergarten and the early years classes have had sections of astroturf installed with some garden additions – we hope this will provide a more user friendly and all year round access to the outside area. It is exciting to continue to make improvements to the physical environment for our students which contributes to their wellbeing and learning. Thank you to Mrs Katrina Hillier for her coordination and leadership of these improvements.
Our first flower of our new standard roses in the horseshoe has bloomed.

Student TPSSA Country Gold Reports
Soccer – Maison and Harvey
Country Gold is a fun and competitive way to meet new people and learn new skills. Our first game was against North West and we beat them by a considerable margin. We also had a strong win in the second game, scoring 8-0. In the third game we competed against Meander Valley and won 3-0. The fourth game was against North East Coast and we came away with another win. In the finals we played North East again and won 4-1. It felt great to win all of the games and the finals.
Netball – Jillian
My team started off strongly with a couple wins, but found the following games challenging and our remaining results were losses. My team had nine girls in it from the Tamar Schools. Tayla and I were the only two on my team with Crystal on the other team from Beaconsfield Primary School. We ended in fourth place on the ladder and the other Tamar Team was runner up. At the end there was a ceremony for the winners to get their medals. Three players from the winning team and two from the other teams were picked to be a part of the 'All Stars' of the game. I was lucky enough to be chosen for the All Stars. It was an exciting experience and I made new friends.
Football – Jake
My Country Gold team won 3 games out of 5. If we had won one more game, we would have been in the finals. It was great fun to train with different people. It was good to learn more about football and make new friends as well as learning how other people play and teach you different ways to play the game.
Hockey – Luke
My hockey team had a lot of fun at the Country Gold Carnival. We trained really hard over the weeks and tried our best on the day. Unfortunately, we only won one game out of 5. It was a great opportunity for us who can’t play hockey outside of school to get better with our skills and make new friends.
Class Placements for 2024
Staff are in the process of planning classes for 2024. Whilst we don’t take requests for students to be in classes or with particular teachers, if you have information which will assist in constructing classes for 2024, please forward it in writing to Shaun Sexton, Tahlia Ross or Daisy Stephens by Friday 20 October. Considerations are given to creating balanced classes to meet students’ academic and social needs.
